Motion Capture and Motion Tracking show bodies without the flesh and allow the animation of inanimate objects with realistic body data.

But how do we READ motion-capture data, in terms of our inherent assumptions about gender, age and ability of the ‘human’ doing the moving?

The Androgyne project seeks to collect the body data of a number of humans who ‘look’ similar in person but who move very differently, and to gather audience feedback about the assumptions we make when we ‘read’ human movement out of context.

The first experiments are focused on the bodies, and body data, of two people:

Bobby Byrne, dancer and martial arts expert, and Lizbeth Goodman, performer and human movement expert.
