Solving the Shoe and feminine problem for people with disabilities…

Andy Minnion, Director of The Rix Centre at UEL popped down at 2pm to introduce Marie Tidball from Channel 4 News who is working on a project examining the advancement of technology for learning dissabilities with the Rix Centre.

As an individual with physical disabilities herself, Marie developed synergies with a number of our individuals within the NESTA group, voicing the need for fashionable and well designed footwear for people that don’t conform to the standard shoe formats and the need for development of well-designed everyday products for people with disabilities in mind, such as a tampon applicator.

The group, many of whom are working in fields that compliment this subject – such as Mark Pedley of SMARTLIFE and Dr. Rachel Armtrong – discussed future projects under development with Marie and her participation in developing their technologies for the future. Watch this space…
