Anita McKeown presents on state-wide creative placemaking initiatives in New Jersey at SPIRES Learning Workshop

spiresOn 12-13 February 2013 Anita McKeown, SMARTlab researcher and CATALYST Project Manager, has presented the findings of her three-week research trip at the SPIRES workshop bringing together the learning and findings of SPIRES members and researchers.

Anita spent a three-week period in New Jersey, US, hosted by Leo Vasquez, Director of the Consortium for Creative Placemaking (formerly Arts Builds Communities at Rutgers University). She met with a range of actors including government, independent arts councils, sustainable New Jersey, community building and educational organisations to consider the inter-relationship of academic, public and industry partnerships for creative place-making.

Her research was funded by an international award from SPIRES (Supporting People who Investigate Research Environments & Spaces), an EPSRC Digital Economy project that looks at social, technological and physical research spaces.
